M. Moneglia
Tour not very long but very satisfying for views and beauty of the always quite technical trails. Here I describe the ascent to the summit, which involves a short section with a backpacking bike but is well worth it, but it is possible to do the tour all pedaled using the Aurelia.
Departing from Riva Trigoso station, climb up SS1 toward Bracco, then turn onto steep cement road (those who want to avoid the summit will return at this point). At the end of the ramp, a very scenic dirt road begins that climbs to become a path that traverses to the very scenic ridge with tables. From the tables you start the long and technical traverse to Moneglia, beautiful with some somewhat narrow sections and short walking steps, for the rest the waltz of the technical pedaled sea view.
Omitting several paths we continue straight ahead and after at the end of the descent that leads to the asphalt, we turn left and continue on path, first downhill and then uphill until we arrive on asphalt. All that remains is to climb until we reach the big junction on the Aurelia, here those who are unimaginative can pedal on asphalt to go back over the initial dirt road, those who are in the mood for views, with little more effort push or carry the bike, interspersed with a few pedal strokes up to the summit of M. Meneglia.
From the summit clearing continue another 50 meters and take the path to the left, initially it is a bit eroded and rather technical, then improves and comes back to the wooden tables we passed earlier. Now snout straight true to the sea: you walk along one of the most scenic ridges in all of Liguria on a wide compacted earth path (U Turiun) , the trail remains on the right, but it is worth making the detour at Punta Baffe to pick up the path just below.
A short rather stony section and then it gets better and better until it joins a dirt road that you follow until near a curve to the left where you abandon it to take the last beautiful section that is less stony but with a few steep bends.
