Ortanella

Beautiful tour above Lake Como starting from Varenna. Tarmac climb up to Cainallo, up to Esino very quiet and with nice views, from Esino on it starts to pull a bit more but never anything monstrous. From the hut continue on a dirt road until you reach a "bar" (actually a log resting on some boulders) where you turn right down into the meadow following the signs for the biodiversity trail.

Here begins a quiet up and down between path and mule track to the Esino Alp, arrived here ignore the path that descends to the right indicating Ortanella and continue straight going around Mount Parolo on the lake view side, beautiful views. You arrive at Ortanella and from here follow the Wayfarer's path to Vezio (easy to follow several bolts of a nice fluorescent orange color).

The descent is never too difficult, there is only one tough spot (a step to go around on the right) just after the Alpe fork that can be intimidating at first glance. The Wayfarer Trail has everything you could want, from gravel to technical to flow and boulder.
