Monte Matanna e Prana - Apuane
The Apuan Alps are considered the Alps of Tuscany and in fact their rocky conformation is very reminiscent of the mountains of northern Italy
This tour starts from Camaiore and will take you to the peaks of Mount Matanna and Prana where you will enjoy spectacular views of all the other surrounding mountains and the sea
The climb to the first peak is partly pedaled and partly portage. The descent from Matanna is very technical, steep and bumpy to be tackled only with excellent riding technique. Alternatively you can descend by where you climbed which is easier except for a short section that is unfeasible in the saddle.
At the end of the first descent starts a beautiful traverse that will lead us to the foot of the second peak of the day then it will take about 1 hour of portage to do the last 300mt of elevation gain
From the top of Mount Prana begins the last descent initially on a beautiful and wild ridge with sea view, then it turns into a very steep and bumpy path where in some places you are forced to get off the bike finally you enter the woods where you can 'let go of the brakes and enjoy the well-deserved flow
Overall very hard ride for the difficulty of the descents but you are rewarded by a super wild environment, almost no people and with spectacular views
Water point just before loading the bike on your back to climb the Prana
