Cima Costabella Monte Baldo
Itinerary with wonderful views and descents in pure all-mountain style.
The climb is mostly on asphalt on secondary roads with no traffic. The final part on mule track and only the very last part to reach the Costabella peak at m.2053 with bike on the shoulder. In no part of the route are there exposed points. At high altitude there are two refuges open all year round (in low season only on weekends).
The first part of the descent is all on the ridge on a clearly visible trail with no particular difficulties.
The second part on trail No. 656 "Lino Ottaviani" is the most technical with many steps and narrow switchbacks, almost trialistic. This section is not very long and can also be walked without ruining the descent. (BEWARE THAT THIS SECTION IS VERY POPULAR WITH HIKERS ON FOOT, I DO NOT RECOMMEND WALKING IT ON SUMMER WEEKENDS AND TRY TO DO IT AT LUNCHTIME WHEN MANY ARE IN THE SHELTERS EATING).
Small ascent up grassland, then entering the woods things get faster and less technical.
Arrived on the asphalt road here there is a bit of downhill transfer on asphalt needed until Spiazzi, but don't get demoralized because then follow a beautiful trail until re-crossing the track of the climb from where you will return to Caprino Veronese making some cuts.
In summer, bring plenty of water because until the refuges there will be no possibility to recharge.
