Alpi Liguri - Saccarello - Fronté e Rocca di Mea

A loop route starting from Molini di Triora; it climbs to the summit of Mount Saccarello, following a section shared by the Via del Sale and the Alta Via. A long ridge ride leads to Mount Fronté, followed by a descent with some more pedaling and a technical trail back to Molini.

Start from Molini di Triora; ride 5 km on paved road to Triora, then continue toward Colle della Guardia. Continue climbing to Colle sel Tanarello (passing through Colle della Melosa). From Tanarello, you can choose whether to stay on the dirt road or follow the ridge trail to Saccarello. From the summit, descend to the La Terza mountain hut. In a few minutes, you’ll reach Colle Frontè (you can climb to the summit if you wish). Descend eastward to the Garezzo Pass. A short tunnel takes you to the south side, following the military road. Halfway between Garezzo and Passo della Guardia, turn left near an alpine hut. Here begins a beautiful series of ups and downs heading east until you rejoin the ridge descending from Garezzo. Once on the ridge, a beautiful, long trail begins, alternating between technical sections and flowing stretches all the way to the village of Croce.

After a short stretch of road, near a cross on the left, the trail descends to Molini along a steep mule trail. This is a fairly challenging ride due to the elevation gain, but it offers stunning views. There is little water along the route.
