Il disagio del Murlansi
If you’re looking for flow, you’re reading the wrong route description. This is a ride for those who love a “challenge,” for those who enjoy the smell of burning brake pads, and for those who consider the nose press not just an option, but a vital necessity. A purely trial-style route—technical and selective—dedicated exclusively to lovers of the extreme.
The Ascent: Approaching the Hills
The landmark is the Colli di San Fermo. To gain elevation, you have two options: the classic ascent on asphalt, steady and smooth, or faithfully following this route that takes you up a dirt road close to the ridges. There is only one goal: the bench, the point of no return where you prepare yourself physically and mentally for what is about to come.
The Descent: The 700 Meters of Murlansi
The real “ordeal” begins at the bench. The descent isn’t long, but it’s brutally intense, divided into three distinct sections that leave no room for error:
- The Appetizer (The first 100m): It starts immediately with a technical S3/S4 section. It’s a manageable stretch for those with good technique, a necessary warm-up to calibrate the brakes and sensitivity on the front wheel.
- The Heart of the Challenge (The next 300m): Here the trail raises the bar in a terrifying way. An endless sequence of S5 trial-style sections requiring millimeter-perfect precision. The exposure is extreme: this is no joke; every maneuver must be calculated. It is the realm of the extreme, where the bike must be guided with both body and mind.
- The Return (The final 300m): Just when you think the worst is over, the trail changes pace. You enter a fast S2 section that’s rough in places. Don’t let your guard down: there are a couple of technical S4 sections that can catch you off guard if approached with too much confidence.
You reach the bottom with tired arms and smoking brakes, knowing you’ve conquered one of the most “brutal” sections in the area.
