Pizzo d'Evigno e discesa Maiali
Hike in Liguria between the provinces of Savona and Imperia on Pizzo d'Evigno, also known as Monte Torre, a very scenic 989-meter green pyramid. The easiest way is undoubtedly to climb from Diano Marina but we, being in Andora, take it longer and pass through Stellanello on the other side. Ignore the starting point indicated by the trail as it is our accommodation. However, it is not difficult to find parking because we are in PianGrande, a few kilometers inland. The first flat section runs along the stream, then on a long stretch of asphalt we pass the villages of Stellanello, Armati and Crocche. At a certain point the asphalt ends and a dirt road begins that has very hard ramps.
You then continue on a path until you reach the green ridge below Mount Ceresa where the views and pastures open up. It is very likely to find grazing horses. Now with a few pushing stretches and a last short stretch of back-biking you reach the summit cross where the view can sweep from the Ligurian mountains to those of Piedmont and on the other side to the Ligurian Sea. The descent retraces the route taken on the way up to below Mount Ceresa, where you take the obvious mule track that is very scenic over the Costa Teudeun. On a rocky but not difficult trail we arrive at the beginning of the last long descent: the Pigs. On this trail there is everything: long flow sections, rock segments, compressions, drops and jumps that however can be comfortably avoided. You reach the bottom of San Bartolomeo with a smile until you touch the sea.
The return to Andora is on the Aurelia. Soon the sea-side bicycle path will be opened, connecting San Bartolomeo, Cervo and Andora passing through the tunnels of the old railroad. Although staying at low altitudes you can already breathe mountain air and the icing on the cake is the Maiali trail: the most flowing and fun trail (S2 and very short S3 sections) we found in the Dianese Gulf.
