DESCRIPTION:

From the center of Anzù we set out towards the slopes of Mount Telva, also walking along a section of the ancient Via Claudia Augusta Altinate. The Perine cave and rock gym at the beginning of the climb is notable. You take off near Zermen then descend quickly (first on asphalt and from wpt C1 360, on grassy tract) to the junction with the SR Feltre - Belluno. By country roads you proceed in a northerly direction with beautiful views of the Vette Feltrine peaks; at Foen begins the beautiful climb that leads to Altin and then Vigui.

One enters the San Martino valley with good seesaw dirt road and past the little church of the same name one arrives at the ford on the Stien stream that allows the change of slope. After about 700 meters an "impossible" ramp forces us to push the bike for about 90 m. then the dirt road resumes pedalable though with some challenging ramps until we reach the village of Lasen; from here a steep grassy path, between walls, reaches via Rondoloi that must be kept in the westerly direction until wpt I1 590; now take a nice little road with remarkable views of Val Belluna that returns in the easterly direction bringing you back above Lasen in J q. 615 EGP.

NOTE: The acronym EGP stands for Enel Green Power and is a long pipeline in sections made of concrete to others of metal pipe about 1 m in diameter, sometimes exposed in other parts partially or completely buried.

This pipeline connects the San Martino valley to the Canzoi valley on a slight slope, and we ride the bicycle part of it between Lasen (wpt J) and Montagne (wpt M). At various points it will be prudent or essential to walk some sections of it due to overhanging roots and some exposure downstream; in particular, in wpt J1, the short exposed and narrow section that follows the culvert can be bypassed upstream as highlighted in the trail.

At L2 610 it is worth leaving the EGP for the small trail that points to Montagne: the bottom is good, but those who fear exposure downstream can take a short walk (200 m in all) to Montagne. The slope is modest in the first half then goes gradually increasing with a prohibitive 50% in the last meters ! In the village, bench, fountain and wash house make a refreshing stop pleasant (but if you need a local you must at least get to Arson). Leaving Montagne you go up a nice swinging trail with some hard uphill climbs then, in wpt O 550 you find the asphalt again and then, mostly downhill, you reach ARSON. A little further down you take the excellent dirt road of the "Old Road". Descend quickly to the 'crossroads (wpt Q 335) with the SR Cesiomaggiore - Feltre, cross it, to the left and follow it for

700 m then turn right to descend to the bridge over the T. Caorame finally go up to Villabruna. (Possibility of refreshment at the bar/trattoria in wpt R1).

After crossing the village, keep via Col Di Sotto, paved up to S 415 then continue on good dirt road that soon climbs to gain the hill of San Silvestro (abandoned little church) whose flat top is occupied and fenced off by a large disused military area. The path skirts the fence then enters the woods becoming a delightful little path until it comes out on the grassy crag of the Colle della Croce (U 445) . Again downhill along easy lanes you skirt Villa Bianco and Villa Pasole then descend to Cart. From here you deviate eastward along country lanes and tracks that, in the final stretch, reach the busy S.R. (Feltre-Busche) downhill; cross it and shortly after take the small road to Nemeggio. In Y1 you keep right for Villapaiera then, in wpt Z you leave the asphalt to take a series of tratturi that lead in Z1 to cross the Celarda/Anzù road. The last evocative stretch takes place at the foot of Mount Miesna (north slope): winding and wild, over arid karst terrain, no sign of human presence ? yet a few more pedal strokes separate us from Anzù.

How to get to the starting point

Ride along the SS Feltrina road until a few km from Feltre; pass Carpen and Sanzan; another 4 km and you reach the outskirts of ANZU'.

On the right is the Bar Trattoria Centrale and a little way off is the parking lot. Other, larger space for free parking is on the opposite side.
