Frerone

This beautiful mountaineering cycle hike starts from the parking lot in front of the Blumon Break hotel in Gaver. We ascend on asphalt until Goletto di Gaver then another 400 meters on a measured slope and before the pass towards malga Cadino della Banca on the right towards the very famous Lago Della Vacca / Blumone. Just before Passo della Vacca we leave the comfortable though not always rideable paved road and take the path on the left N°18 that we will follow for 400 meters. When we reach the junction with path N°38 we take it and walk bike now definitely on our shoulders towards Rifugio Ghezza - Passo del Frerone.

From the Pass without delay we abandon N°38 and head without possibility of error towards the summit of Frerone. The segment is yes strenuous and a little exposed to walk carefully but of a poignant beauty where geology in remote eras has drawn captivating and striking rock conformations. With only 1,200 meters of elevation gain we are at the summit of Frerone. Always sublime scenery and descent from the summit down to the rocky but 95% cyclable grasslands.

Then a beautiful alpine prairie easy but not to be underestimated, with all the pitfalls inherent in these trails, potholes dug sections etc. Then we cross a rocky rampart with the trail carved into the side, more scenic than difficult, a few sections also in this segment doable by bike but with due care. There are also two sections with chain and taproots to be done obviously with bike in hand and we have reached Valfredda Pass. Now the trail, again 18, is without pitfalls and of a stony nature that just keeps you entertained until the Donkey Pass. Here we bend left and down the alpine pasture on pseudo trail that is easier to lose and then find again than to follow regularly. Further down it becomes a pleasant track through the alpine meadows to the Cadino della Banca hut. A piece of asphalt and we are back at Goletto di Gaver and here we descend on what in the winter season is the snowshoe ascent trail that cuts 3 times through the road to Passo Crocedomini until we return to the Blumon Break parking lot.

Short trip if one takes as evaluation parameters elevation gain and Km but of great depth if instead it is the emotions, the landscapes, the technical scenery, the charm of a beautiful peak that decree the judgment.
