Bollero e Chiessi
Two beautiful descents in the western part of #elba. Start from Colle d'Orano and by asphalt climb to Marciana and just above the fortress take the forest road that intercepts the Via Crucis that goes up to the Madonna del Monte. Follow the cai 3 trail, splendid traverse that leads to Serraventosa and then descend to Bollero and go up to Toppolo and from here, keeping to the right, you get to take the mythical Chiessi trail (cai 125).Very technical descent in the initial part, steps, hairpin bends, passages on firm rock bordering on trialistic, then in the second part you come out of the woods and start a series of hairpin bends with a spectacular view of the sea, bottom in rocky boulder and gravel and again technical passages and flow sections.
At Chiessi you take a right and on asphalt back to Colle d'Orano and then Partesi. Here you take the path that follows the coast, very scenic, with some ups and downs to Zanca. You go down the small roads to S.Andrea and then by asphalt to Cottoncello and from here by path to Maciarello (some short pushing sections).Continue along the Sentiero dei Profumi trail with a few ups and downs (another short push section) and above RipaBarata begins the trail down to Marciana Marina (short but decidedly technical, with steps and small rocks and then switchbacks to flow at the end). Cross the lovely marina and then take the asphalt road up to Poggio (little traffic and mostly shaded in the early morning hours). In the final stretch you follow a forest road that comes out below Poggio and from here by asphalt you return to Marciana and this time take the single track that from the cemetery goes up to intercept the Via Crucis (99% rideable).
Go back to Madonna del Monte, Serraventosa and then down to Bollero and this time keep to the right. Very technical descent in the first section, with steeps, steps and passages bordering on trialistic (but almost all doable), then again steep but smoother and a series of very enjoyable traverses alternating with more guided sections always on single track.Final section becomes challenging again, with a nice steep on very technical dirt and rocks and then becomes smoother but still challenging up to the asphalt road; left and in a short time you arrive at Colle d'Orano.
