Description
This is a completely cyclable tour provided you have a good leg to climb and a decent command of the vehicle to be able to enjoy the long descent on single track and a few dirt roads. Departure from Rovereto, to be precise from Piazza Podestà, reached by following the signs for SS 46 to Vicenza, which we take and follow.
- Before crossing a bridge we take the road on the left with directions to Cà Bianca and follow it always keeping to the right.
- After a short descent and crossing the stream Leno di Terragnolo we reach the village of Cà' Bianca and at the fountain we take the dirt road on the left.
- We reach the asphalt road that leads to Giazera, which we travel slightly downhill taking an uphill firebreak on the right.
- The dirt road climbs with a not inconsiderable slope and on a surface that is certainly not the best; we take it and, always keeping to our left, we follow it until we reach the asphalt road again that leads to Giazera and here to the right on asphalt toward the built-up area of Giazera.
- Just above the built-up area we take a dirt road on the right that leads us on the 101 trail that first on asphalt and then on a dirt road takes us to the Vincenzo Lancia refuge located at an altitude of 1825 meters.
- We continue on trail marker 120 and having taken Malga Pozze to the right on trail marker 105 that takes us toward Bocchetta delle Corde, which we reach after a short stretch of trail marker 102B.
- At Bocchetta delle Corde we take right on trail 102 and immediately after left on trail 102B and trail 102 that takes us first to the summit of Monte Testo that we can reach in two minutes on foot after the fork to descend.
- When we reach Bocchetta dei Foxi we descend on meadow following trail marker 122 and when we reach the dirt road on the left we climb briefly to reach the Menderle Pass.
- To the right on marker 119B which takes us to the summit of Mount Spill then we descend first to Malga Buse and then to Malga Monticello which we leave on our left.
- Watch out for the junction with marker 119 that we take to the left. We follow it being careful that once we enter the woods just below we leave it continuing to the right on obvious path.
- Be careful just below as we briefly climb right on obvious path and shortly after left on hidden path that we follow with its hairpin bends to the dirt road.
- A few meters and to the right on path continuing straight ahead to the small monastery of Pian del Levro.
- Always on the maximum slope until you reach the village of Vanza and just below signs for Spino on hidden dirt road and path.
- Just outside the village of Spino turn left on steps and on path and paved closed road to the shores of the artificial lake of San Colombano.
- We follow the right bank and shortly after are back on the SS46 to Vicenza right on the bridge we did not cross on the way out.
