Bagno di Romagna - Zucchero Dante alternativo, Frana Trail e inedito trail di Vetta alla Croce
This route finally led me to discover some of the iconic trails in the area in the alternative variants devised by my fellow adventurers Scott and Nicola Z, and to discover unseen trails that are more in keeping with our style of mountain biking, continually seeking adrenaline and adventure. Once again we minimize the ascent in order to enjoy the descents to the fullest and then mechanize to the start of the first trail. The Dante Sugar starts immediately with an energetic climb and then continues on a quiet forest trail to the entrance of the real trail. From here instead of following the classic trail we immediately start with a steep climb, while the funambulist Nicola Zascariani launches into an even more extreme variant that to see it from below gives you a stiff neck. From this point on we follow continuous variations to the classic trail in search of ridges, drops and steeps that make the descent decidedly more adrenaline-pumping than the tracked one. The succession of numbers especially from the experts in the group ends with the descent of the Traliccio, which with its sequence of drops tests my cycling skills and luck. You finish the trail on comfortable rocks to the river and finally via single track you reach the road.
From here you ride on asphalt to the entrance of the Frana Trail. The start is on quiet wooded single track, until the arrival at the ridge where an exposed steep starts that will be done only by our tightrope walker. We then follow on equipped trail to cross the landslide carrying the bike with one hand suspended in the air and holding on to the rope with the other hand. Finally the scenic trail starts, full of drops and though less than the Sugar some toxic variants that go to ennoble even more a descent that lacks nothing.
Continuing on to the hermitage of Pietrapazza we ascend by forestry to the mouth of the Becca Trail. After a hundred or so meters we veer left to take a trail that goes to the ridge, little used not on any map and with several fallen trees to bar the way, but overall with about 70 percent cyclability and which for lovers of adventure and the wild makes it a great experience. The ridge trail with several ups and downs ends at the Vetta della Croce, a balcony over Bagno and its valley. From here starts a trail that plummets to the valley from the first few meters and requires advanced nose press skills and cycling technique. For further details the steps are in the video.
