Monte Carza - Cannobio new trail

Ride high above Lake Maggiore with a descent on a trail prepared for MTBs, 900 meters of no-stop elevation gain.

Start in Cannobio, after free parking in the industrial area. The first 6 km are on the lakeside on a fairly busy road, once we get to Cannero Riviera we turn right and begin the 900-meter ascent on a paved road that gives up only when you cross one of the villages perched on this mountain with stunning views of the lake.

Just before the summit you switch to dirt road and finally, on a steep trail of about ten meters, you reach the summit cross of Mount Carza.

There are signs for the official tour of Mount Carza, which we do not follow, however, because we immediately take the downhill trail on the right, which is very well maintained and full of bends, banks, and jumps created by a few mountain bikers. The terrain is very soft, some sections are steep, there are a few passages on rock but they never exceed an S2+.

You cross a cart track several times, until you reach a passage on rock with an ideal painted line, almost lake view.

After almost 900 meters of elevation gain we arrive on a cart track made of boulders driven into the ground, which we follow to Cannobio. 1 km on paved road back to the parking lot.
