Cima Portule dalla Val Galmarara
By car from Asiago in the direction of Trento, take the Val Galmarara natural-bottomed road and park at the fork for Malga Meatta. Pedal on good ground and moderate slope to Malga Galmarara, from here follow the road (CAI 830) that turns in a southwesterly direction to Baito Busa del Monton. The road, which in some stretches takes on the characteristics of a mule track (the cyclability remains always good) continues without particular difficulty with a small loss of altitude, up to a junction , where you take the Eugen Strasse to Bocchetta Portule, where it is possible to visit the gallery with the military posts (the track follows a grassy mule track that, pleasantly, climbs in a southerly direction to a scenic area on the ridge; from here you can continue on foot and quickly reach an even more scenic chimney). Back at Bocchetta Protule, leave the road and continue on trail 826, which you will mostly push along.
First section among the mughoes steep and tiring, then the slope softens and the view widens (short pedalable sections) until you reach the Cornetto di Bocchetta Portule, possible destination of the trip. It is worthwhile, however, to continue along the panormic ridge, now always pushing, until you reach cima Portule (2300 meters). Return to the Bocchetta retracing the outward path. Up to the Cornetto fantastic ridge descent, with some short exposed sections and bottom with small rocks (S2), then intermediate section that alternates between sections with small rocks and mobile stones and others grassy on moderate slopes (S2-S1), last section among the steepest mughoos (S2-S3).
Returning to the road, cut across meadows to reach a junction just below, from here take a long traverse on a gently ascending grassy mule track until you reach Mount Meatta. You descend the old military road, which has now become a trail. The single track is easy and very flowing (S1). The trail is completely free of crashes (probably only a few days old judging by the sawdust still present near the cuttings) and therefore can be traveled very quickly. Unfortunately, towards an altitude of 1600 the trail begins to resume the aspect of a mule track first and then of a forest track until the Malga Meatta, from here a forest track with an excellent bottom descends, which the trail avoids by taking a single of modest difficulty (S1-S2) that cuts through the hairpin bends and ends near the parking lot.
In conclusion, a truly complete and varied itinerary; from the Cima to Bocchetta Portule excellent technical skills are required; if you want to limit the difficulties or reduce the elevation gain, you can avoid this section, which is, however, the most beautiful from the point of view of the environment (obviously with good visibility conditions).
