Monte Mario e Medelana
Hike between Monte Mario and Medelana.Depart from Bologna and bike to Casalecchio (Talon Park) and from there follow the Via degli Dei (VDD) trail passing by the path to the left of the Reno (official trail) with a short push uphill, then continue to Prati di Mugnano following the VDD and near of the Commenda you leave the VDD (which proceeds to the dirt road of Via delle Orchidee) to follow the more enjoyable single track (Gorilla trail) that arrives at the final part of Via Delle Orchidee.Follow the VDD for a stretch more to the Monte Mario cliffs and here take a right onto a fun trail down to Badolo (Secret trail): a nice series of steep, technical passages and steps that leave little breathing room.
At Badolo you take a right and climb for a stretch until you take the Vagabunder trail on the left: also very fun, it alternates flowing sections with technical passages some even challenging on rock. You come to the road that climbs to Badolo and take a right to climb to the Sella di Monte Mario and then descend to Sasso Marconi. Here you follow the bike path that leads to Fontana and then by small roads up to Iano and from here to the Medelana crossroads. One more short technical uphill stretch on trail and you arrive at the start of the "Bionda" which is the classic Medelana trail, technical on rock and steps. You go down to the Porrettana and then back to the bike path and asphalt to Castel de Rossi and bike path to Talon Park. Here go up the hill road coming from San Luca and then right to take the descent from Colle di Casaglia down to Villa Spada . Cycle path back to Bologna.
