Piz Lagalb e Lago del Monte
With this excursion we are going to add to the classic tour of Lago del Monte the variant of a peak little frequented by bikers but with a great scenic as well as downhill potential thanks to its strategic position: the Piz Lagalb that with its altitude of 2959 meters gives exciting views of the glacier of Piz Palú, Bernina and Morteratsch. I pledge a tough ascent partly pushed and partly shouldered on the winding path that climbs from the south side of the mountain, which we engage from the beautiful path that starts at Passo Forcola: after Fuorcla Minor we turn right. The first section on the slope will also prove to be rideable for short stretches, then the music changes until you reach a scenic bench, but it is not over. We keep pushing until we intercept the dirt road serving the disused ski lift. A short pedaled section and we are ready for the final switchbacks that catapult us to the summit.
The first descent to the bench is the same as the ascent, apart from 500 linear meters on the dirt road, the trail is easy and very scenic but not to be underestimated. Reaching the bench the music changes, the trail becomes very technical little fast and physical, a spectacle for those who like the genre. All brightened by the beautiful views that surround the place.
There is not much more to add, the rest of the ride is well described in various reports here. Tour not to be underestimated, for prepared bikers only.
