Anello Ligonchio - Monte Cusna - Ligonchio
Departure and return to Ligonchio. First rideable part, from Ligonchio to the Lama Lite pass, first km on asphalt (SP18 for about 3km), then along forest road that runs along the Presa Alta dam and reaches the Lama Lite pass (about 15km of dirt and beaten road). Various drinking fountains along this stretch, possibility of refreshment at the Bargetana refuge (after about 13km) or at the Battisti refuge (18km).
From there the most challenging part begins, with pedalable stretches and long pushing sections until the (closed) Febbio 2000 refuge, ideal for a break and to look at the view. From Febbio 2000 you proceed with pushable parts and a few shoulder or pedaled sections. The last 150 meters of elevation gain that take us to the summit are the most challenging because of the significant gradients. The long descent from the summit takes us to the Sara Meadows, a beautiful and wide alpine meadow, and presents no particular difficulty. The final part of the descent (from Prati di Sara to the hamlet of Casalino) is in the woods with challenging passages between stones and roots and a not exactly "very clean" path. You return from Casalino to Ligonchiio on paved road slightly uphill for about 3km.
Becareful.
- Last refueling available at the Battisti refuge, after that there are no drinking fountains and the Febbio 2000 refuge has been closed since last year.
- I recommend starting from the Ligonchio Power Plant, there is a small parking lot and a drinking fountain.
- The section of trail between the end of the asphalt road and the Presa Alta dam is only passable in the summer months, the rest of the year there is a ban on walking it unless authorized.
