Venas - Col Pecolines - Vinigo
Half-day tour above the village of Venas di Cadore (BL).
The intinerary starts from the village of Venas and travels along the former military road that passes the Antro Fort and higher up the Sant'Anna Barracks, military structures from the early 1900s, now ruins. It then continues for another fifty meters of elevation gain, still on a forest road, to the summit of Col Pecolines from where there is a beautiful view of Mount Rite, Pelmo, Antelao and the Boite Valley.
From here you begin to descend on the opposite slope always on a forest road until the crossroads at Pian de Sadorno. At the crossroads choose the cartroad more to your left passing a beautiful perfectly restored taulà/tabià and a marsh (be careful not to get bogged down!). From here the road begins to descend very decidedly and is very muddy because of the marly soil and the spring we just passed. In a few places the passage is complicated by some landslides encroaching on the forest track, so special care must be taken. The steep ends near the Grotto of Our Lady of Lourdes. Then the descent continues pleasant among several renovated tabiàs to the village of Vinigo. After peering inside the beautiful church of Vinigo, one proceeds on a paved road to Peaio di Cadore where one takes the Dolomites Cycle Path that leads back to Venas.
