Karma trail e sentiero del Fieno

From Loano we climb to the sanctuary of Monte Carmelo and then to the sanctuary of Santa Cosma e Damiano, where we cross the track and pass over Pietra Ligure arriving at the highway toll booth. Between mixed asphalt - dirt road then you reach Giustenice where the official climb to Monte Carmo begins, which takes place on a nice unpaved road gippable on a constant slope, up to the Giustenice yoke where the final, difficult bit begins, forcing you to push and hold your bike on your shoulders for about twenty minutesì. The reward is the breathtaking panorama offered by the summit.

Then begins the big descent, which from the Amici del Carmo hut becomes Karma trail: resurfaced in 2024 as described in this report. Finished Karma 2 scant km of slight ascent lead to Ranzi where the Hay trail begins, quite technical but nothing compared to Karma. It also offers beautiful viewpoints including the Bric 5 alberi; rejoining the Cosma and Damiano shrine, it is an easy descent to Loano via the port.
