VALLES PASS - VAL VENEGIA - SAN PELLEGRINO PASS
We start with a lift (Molino-Le Buse euro 8). After a quick descent on forestry we conquer the Valles Pass on the provincial road in about 3km. From the Pass we have to reach the Forcella Venegia (ban) with 20' of portage/push , 1 km and 170 m d+, wonderful panorama.
The descent to Val Venegia is very varied, the major impediment being the ruts carved by the water; as you enter the woods the trail becomes spindly and fast.
When we reach the valley, we ascend under the walls of the Pale di San Martino in a fairy-tale setting; there are 3 km and 300 m of ascent to climb to the fork (ban) just before Baita Segantini.
On a nice dirt path we pass between Monte Costazza and Castellaz before descending, on a dirt road, first to Capanna Cervino and then to Malga Juribello.
Just before the Malga we take the path to the right (prohibition) signposted Val Venegia, which begins falsely flat among the meadows to descend decisively with several serpentines once we enter the woods, not technical but very steep.
Emerging again in Val Venegia we cross the bridge over the Travignolo stream and exit the valley .
The paved ascent to Passo Valles for 4 km and 350 m begins. From the Pass we take an uphill left for about 200 m on a dirt road, reaching the Pradazzo fork we descend to Lake Cavia from where, past the dam, we must shoulder for about 10 minutes before descending quickly to Passo San Pellegrino.
Alternating slight climbs and fast descents through the meadows, surrounded by breathtaking views, we pass by the Fuciade refuge and the Casoni di Valfredda before descending to the Marmoi and descending on the fun CAI path 691 that leads us in a short time to the Malga ai Lach. From here on only fast downhill forest roads, interrupted only by a killer tear, take us to the hamlet of Somor and then on asphalt to the parking lot.
