Pizzo Formico
Very short but still very satisfying ride, perfect for when you only have half a day free and don't know where to go.
We start from the Cirano parking lot, on the road from Barzizza to Mount Farno. The first section is on asphalt, sometimes steep, then on concrete, always steep, and then continue on dirt road, finally with more acceptable gradients. When you reach Baita Cornei, turn right, still on a dirt road towards Rifugio Parafulmen, which you will reach in a few minutes and without much effort. If you want you can avoid going to Parafulmen, but since the trail is very short it is a recommended destination, also because being open most of the year, you can stop, refresh and rest for a moment.
From the hut take the trail down into the meadow, cross the dirt road used for the ascent and take the trail up the mountainside that takes us first to Forcella Larga and then to the foot of Pizzo Formico, all of this traverse is almost totally doable in the saddle. From here on, however, you have to push and/or carry your bike on your back to the summit, but it is a short stretch of about ten minutes.
Put on the protectors and start descending, the first section is stratospheric, interspersed with short, very technical passages, then just below it turns into a trail flow, at times a tad steep, but still exceptional, that will get you back to the parking lot in no time.
