Description
It starts from the parking lot in the woods located after the small village of Preit, in the Maira valley, and on asphalt with steep sections you reach the La Meja farmhouse.
From here you go up on a forest road to the Gardetta refuge. The more technically trained and prepared can then continue on the military trail to the Rocca Brancia pass, with subsequent descent on trail.
Descent from Gardetta on the same road as the outward journey, if desired there are a couple of detours on path that cuts the hairpin bends.
Really very scenic itinerary, to be done on a nice summer day. Excellent lunch at the Gardetta hut.
