101 - Cantedolto
Mountaineering cycle route with beautiful views, partly challenging. Start from Averara or from Olmo al Brembo you can take the beautiful final descent of this trail).
Comfortable ascent on asphalt up to the plans of Avaro, then on dirt road with very steep climbs to the pass below Monte Foppa (water point during the ascent and just arrived at the plans of Avaro).
The proposed trail explores the northern part trail 101, very scenic and also beautiful very rideable (S3- initial and then S2) but with many sections where you have to climb over boulders. When we arrive at the junction of the trail up to Verrobbio Pass, 50 meters of S4+ descent on firm but super-technical boulders await us.
The trail continues in the saddle with the usual sections where we have to descend to pass the obstacle and then arrive below the S.Marco pass. From here it continues to the Cantedolto refuge from which the famous spectacular medium S2 descent starts (alternating S1 and S2 sections and a couple of S3 passages).
I recommend this route to those who have never seen the via Mercatorum area, but for those visiting this area for the first time I recommend this much more enjoyable trail.
