Dalco 102 (110)
Dalco is synonymous with extreme, anyone who wants to try their hand at the steep and technical sooner or later comes to throw their wheels in!
This route follows the well-known 102 ( actually the signs indicate it as 110) which is certainly more affordable than 111 and 112 and if done with caution and some walking, is enjoyable by anyone with good technique and not suffering from exposure.
The trailhead is at Bocchetta Valle Scaglione which can be reached from several points:
1) From the pass between Corna Vecchia and Corno Nero as in the gps track: it starts with a rather technical narrow and a bit exposed trail with some passages that are better tackled on foot if not safe, then it improves and becomes more fun until you get to a shoulder on the left just hinted at where you can glimpse the track (without indications), if you follow it you will see that it becomes immediately more evident and starts with a steep and then makes a series of very enjoyable hairpin bends, the perfect warm-up!
2) if you want to shorten and simplify from Bocca dei Sospiri: with a slightly uphill trail almost all rideable (as on this route) until the Bocca, then it descends and continues flat, but be careful after the traverse don't take the first sign for 102 because it is not interesting but continue slightly uphill until you take the not very evident track on the shoulder.
3) From Bocca dei Sospiri but passing by Cima dei Sospiri : (as in this itinerary) by dirt road shortly after the Bocca Sospiri trail and then from the summit with a series of switchbacks (I have never done this).
Upon reaching the plateau of Bocchetta Valle Scaglione we find ourselves at the beginning of the real trail 102 ( marked 110 as you see in the photo).
We throw ourselves to the left for Limone, the impact is immediately violent because the first hairpin bend that is really very closed, but then they become more approachable and not exposed, but on loose ground.
The path after the first series of hairpin bends makes a beautiful traverse, a bit exposed but completely approachable because not too difficult and with enough space.
Having reached a rocky shoulder there are some difficult steps that lead to the fateful panoramic and aerial passage that is to be done on foot with the help of the cable, this stretch is the most characteristic but it is not cyclable!
Past the cable and reaching the col, the trail begins a series of hairpin bends all from nose press very nice, only two or three are very technical, the most are affordable of anyone with a decent technique, but especially they are not too exposed or dangerous and as you go down it becomes easier and easier and less and less exposed until you reach the paved Val Singol.
Basically if you don't suffer from vertigo it is a good gym in a super environment to hone your technique and test yourself and then maybe review some of the videos found on the net to see the differences with the better climbers!
