Triangolo Lariano
A long ride, but very satisfying both for the challenging climbs, the views and the fun descents.
Some technical data: route suitable for MTB XC/AM, 70km distance, 5.30 hours on the move, 2100 meters of elevation gain with a maximum altitude of 1440m asl and 100% rideable
Our itineraries, as always, are looped, so either at the beginning, or at the end of your route you will have to put in approximately 30km of transfer by provincial road; alternatively you can use the ferry.
We decided to leave the car in Bellagio and warm up our legs with the 30km or so of provincial road on the lake shore; once in Como the asphalt road climb to Brunate begins; if you want to save a few hundred meters in elevation gain you can opt for the Como-Brunate funicular.
Alternating cemented and unpaved road you arrive at the foot of Mount Bolettone (1150m), now a continuous up and down awaits you until you reach Mount S.Primo (1440m), all seasoned between single track inside the forest (Sentiero dei Faggi), unpaved roads and paths in the middle of the meadows, staying always on the ridge you can admire the lake from different angles.
After admiring and photographing Bellagio as seen from above, the not too strenuous descent begins; in the first part on grassland, then on rocky terrain and finally on dirt paths and mule tracks that lead back to our starting point.
