Col Visentin + Nevegal
Departure from Vittorio Veneto, locality Longhere (free parking). The first ride of this tour corresponds to the first meter of ascent to the summit of Col Visentin, an ascent that will accompany us almost uninterruptedly for the next 15km. We then set off uphill, biting the first hairpin bends of Via del Col Visentin (stretches at 20 percent) until we reach the intersection of Via Vizza, where we leave the main road to veer left toward the village.
Just beyond the houses the terrain becomes mixed concrete/gravel, with a few short stretches where you can take a breather and with wide sections sheltered by the forest. At an altitude of 800 meters, following a bumpy ramp with stones (possible 1 minute with a push bike), a short descent leads toward Via San Francesco (direction Pian delle Femene). A couple of asphalt hairpin bends to then veer right toward Casera Carmelo locality and then again cross via del C.Visentin (1000 meters). Stay on asphalt to climb the last few kilometers that will lead to the last right-hand hairpin bend where the last part of the climb begins, the long traverse with the refuge as its destination, visible in the distance to the northeast.
Initially on rough asphalt as far as Forc. Zoppei (1420 meters), the next last 3 km are instead more difficult, with a rather bumpy bottom (coarse gravel) and medium-high gradient stretches; a last ramp requires some balance in order to reach the refuge in the saddle (GPM altitude 1764 meter, rifugio 5° Artiglieria Alpina). We then proceed behind the refuge on a trail (Trail delle Creste) that is fairly technical (NB: the entire trail proceeds practically on the ridge, beware of any feelings of vertigo). A short but intense ascent takes us to the mountain opposite, where the trail continues, still fairly technical but worthwhile.
We then arrive at La Casera, where we take the winding paved descent. We leave it just below to proceed on trail/bike-park until we come out at Piazzale del Nevegal (950 meters), fountain at the traffic circle just beyond. The descent proceeds on asphalt (dirt variants are possible, I will include them in future itineraries), to the Quantin cemetery where, turning right and after 500 meters again to the right, a stretch of undergrowth brings us near the Cornolade waterfalls (contemplative stop of the canyon recommended). Fast downhill again to the railroad underpass, beyond which we enter the return road that skirts Lake S.Croce.
From Sella Fadalto (470 meters) to the final arrival point it is a succession of back roads, trails, lakefront, short climbs and fun descents that allow us to avoid the state highway altogether (traffic is low anyway, given the highway above).
