Esplorazione per futura discesa dal Prana
Exploration for a possible descent from the summit of Prana to the Master's House. Next the very tough Scala Santa where today aimé I fell twisting the left brake lever, fortunately without physical consequences thanking the brambles that cushioned my fall.
Departing from the parking lot of the Camaiore stadium I head in the direction of Lucca toward Montemagno. Arriving in the vicinity of the fountain I continue another hundred meters and then turn left on the steep slope signposted Frascalino. Arrived near an abandoned building I abandon the asphalt and continue on a path that recovers the road to Gombitelli. Having found the road again I pass the village and continue to Passo Lucese. From the latter before facing the toughest part of the climb I refuel with water at the fountain located a hundred meters ahead.
I resume the climb that corresponds to Cai 101 until I reach the junction for Rifugio Casa del Maetro where I stop to refresh myself and stock up on water again. From here on I continue first pushing the bike and then loading it on my shoulders as I ride uphill along the ridge I have come to explore. As I climb, I become convinced that the survey was very useful and the trail, apart from two sections, one of which is a rock jump, can also be ridden downhill, obviously having very good leadership skills. The trail is marked by classic cairns and clearly visible. the trail goes to intersect the normal route, where I immediately begin the descent instead of continuing to the summit.
The descent of the normal route is all doable in the saddle except for a few sections where you have to be careful of some more pronounced rocks. Before arriving at the Focetta di San Vincenzo I refuel with water again at the spring that is found going up a short section on the left of the trail and marked by a trail marker. The classic descent involves the beautiful scenic trail that goes around the Prana and then continues to the Alpe di Cima and undertakes the Pianelle Trail but today I decide to descend on Cai 112 also known as the Scala Santa, a very tough trail that leads to the village of Casoli.
Arriving at the village I could continue on trail to Candalla but given the fall and tiredness I decide for a quiet asphalt.
