Da Tommaso - Gabria - a Castellazzo
Today's route is recommended in spring, when the vegetation has not yet erupted and so the brambles will not spoil our trip.
We start from the parking lot in front of the old Da Tommaso restaurant, unfortunately closed for years, along the Vallone road that connects Gorizia to Trieste.
We start with the climbing of the serpentone, a path that climbs towards the Brestovec: watch your ear, from here many enjoy the descent with considerable speed and some jumps!
Immediately after the ascent, the bottom will always be compact but we will travel along some of the many fire roads in the area, bypassing the village of San Michele del Carso, with some ups and downs arriving at the Castellazzo cliff, a magnificent panoramic viewpoint over Lake Doberdò that is worth the whole route.
We now turn back, however, taking the direction of Doberdò del Lago, cross this small karst village and then atraverse several dirt roads and a few paths to the Grotta dei Colombi and then zigzag through easy karst roads and paths until we rejoin the eegional road and from there return to our starting point.
