Vaccaro Super Trail
Continuing with our "local" routes, it's the turn of a really interesting trail, the "vaccaro" (BG); famous for its strong gradient, with a climb among the hardest in the area and in Italy, according to the website salite.ch it turns out to be the 17th hardest climb in Italy preceded by much more famous climbs such as Mortirolo, Zoncolan and the Etna climb.
Some technical data: distance: 35 km - moving time: 3 hours - total elevation gain: 1200m - maximum elevation: 1500m - bikeability: 100% - suitable for MTB XC/AM/ENDURO.
For convenience we started from Fiorano al Serio, but if you want to skip a piece of provincial/bike path, you can park the car in Ponte Nossa where the real tour starts.
Past the village of Ponte Nossa begins a hard climb on a path/ cemented road to reach the village of Parre; here begins an interminable climb that will not let you rest even for a single minute until our destination, the Vaccaro refuge.
The road alternates between cemented and paved sections with gradients always around 15/18%, it never lets up!
Finally arrived at the refuge after relaxing and enjoying the view begins the part we were all waiting for, a fantastic trail that will lead all the way back to our starting village.
We retrace for a few meters the dirt road we have just walked, until we take the trail on the right.
Initially this is a very flowing trail, up to a technical intermediate point with overhangs where we find steel wires, but all passable except for a couple of passages.
After that the trail continues very, very fast to the village of Parre, where we retrace the same trail to reach Ponte Nossa.
A very, very fun single track!!!
In our youtube channel, in addition to the full trail, you will find the video of the descent: "Trail Monte Vaccaro"
