Finale Ligure - Le Manie
Already having several miles in our legs from the day before, we decided to opt for something shorter, but super super awesome; we are in the Manie area and are going to ride the four best trails in the area for trails and scenery.
Some technical data cannot be missed. Total distance: 34km - moving time: 3.40 hours - total elevation gain: 1200m - maximum elevation: 320m - bikeability: 100% - suitable for MTB ENDURO/DH.
We are located in the area between Varigotti and Noli; the trails besides being super fun will enjoy great views, we are completely overlooking the sea.
The trails well or badly all start from the same area, but in order not to be too monotonous we decided to alternate two climbs: the first (1 and 3 climbs) on asphalt with even gradients, while the second (2 and 4 climbs), very, but much tougher, on cemented road and then dirt with gradients around 20 percent; the latter will test you, let yourself be challenged and don't take your foot off the pedal.
We rode four trails, in order:
1. Friend Trail: this short trail is an easy way to reach Noli from the Manie plateau. A beautiful trail that moves along the coast among typical Mediterranean vegetation and breathtaking views. The terrain, with its gravel and dirt, allows good conditions even when wet; the possibility of reaching some incredible viewpoints is a brilliant plus for this trail.
2. DH Woman: classic seaside finalist trail. Same starting point as dh men. First part with gravel straightaways and then ends in a single track with counter slope and rocks.
3. San Michele: very narrow trail that ends in the Noli area. Final part quite technical and uphill. Two significant switchbacks very difficult to close.
4. DH Men: EWS2015 championship trail, Special Stage #4; theater of competition for the Downhill and enduro category. It throws itself headlong toward Varigotti, with some sections considered back-breaking, but mostly bike-breaking.
We can say we spent two spectacular and fun days and confirm Finale Ligure one of the best places to practice the MTB and DOWNHILL discipline.
