Cavlera 529
Here we are with a new route in our area, the Seriana Valley, we are in Vertova, in the province of Bergamo and we will reach Mount Cavlera up to the Bliben Pass.
As always some technical data. Distance: 19km - time on the move: 2.30 hours - total elevation gain: 980m - maximum elevation: 1300m - cycleability: 95% - suitable for MTB ENDURO/DH.
Today's route is an alternative to the previous route Cavlera ? 528 Special; if you have never been in the area I recommend you first try the 528 and then if you feel like going back try the new route.
There is a big difference between the two trails: the first, the 528 Special is much smoother and less technical than the second, the 529, where you need a lot of technique to overcome sharp switchbacks and rocky descents.
Leaving Fiorano we reach Vertova via the provincial road, where immediately the mostly paved climb begins with regular gradients within everyone's reach!
Before reaching the Cavlera refuge we take a private road on the left that leads to Dasla Pass. Continue climbing on asphalt and concrete until you reach the Bliben Pass; here the slopes start to get steep, the last kilometer will test your training, but don't worry, nothing impossible.
When you reach the Pass, after a few meters downhill along a road, the 529th trail begins.
The trail immediately begins with several tight switchbacks, and to follow it alternates between coasting sections and very technical and rocky bits.
Today's is a strenuous descent because of the many bends and loose rocks; if you are not very good with tight switchbacks and passages over rocks, we do not recommend it; but opt for 528, in our opinion much, much better.
The finish of the two trails is the same, the famous Vertova Valley, famous for its cool, crystal-clear waters, where you will then take the road back to your starting point.
