Engadina Tour
A truly challenging, but highly satisfying route!
We are in the Engadine, more precisely between Poschiavo, Passo del Bernina and San moritz; you will see postcard places!
As usual some technical data: distance: 90km - time on the move: 6.30 hours - total elevation gain: 2000m - maximum elevation: 2450m - cyclability: 100% - suitable for MTB XC/AM/ENDURO.
In the track data to download you will find a higher elevation gain and mileage, I wanted to start the GPS from Poschiavo, where we took the little train, in order to give you a complete itinerary.
As just mentioned we left the car in Poschiavo where we took the famous Bernina red train to the Ospizio Bernina stop, basically at the top of the Pass.
Here we took a light, easy path alternating with a bicycle path until we reached Samedan where the first climb of the day begins.
This is a dirt road about 3.5km long, with a high but steady gradient.
Once we arrived at the alpine hut, we took an uphill path that runs along the entire mountain, completely rideable, sometimes flat and sometimes very steep that will accompany us all the way to Marguns.
The climb is not over, there are another 200 meters of elevation gain left, on a dirt road, to reach the top of the Corviglia area where most of the trails start.
We opted first for the WM Flow Trail, flow with humps and parabolics and then headed up the Foppettas Flow Trail, a very flowy bike park trail with parabolics, jumps and wooden structures.
Once in Champfer, we headed for downtown St. Moritz where it hooks the second climb of the day to get to the Bernina Pass.
You have three choices to get to the pass depending on your physical condition: the most challenging is the bike path mixed with trail that you have been descending for a while; the middle way is the wide 20-km-long asphalt road; or, if you just don't have it anymore, wait for the little train at the stop and launch yourself over.
When you get to the pass, a very fast and natural endless single track will be waiting for you, leading all the way back to the starting point.
Basically we follow the same route as the railway, and it is a sight to behold; mandatory stop at the scenic Alp Grum station overlooking the entire Palü glacier.
In our youtube channel, in addition to the full route, you will find both videos of the descent: "WM + Foppettas Flow Trail and Trail Bernina"
