Da Gradisca a Portopiccolo

Today's route starts from an area with parking lots in Gradisca d'Isonzo and arrives at the bay of Sistiana. Having crossed the passerelle on the Isonzo we immediately begin with an arduous climb up the side of San Michele, where we will go to "conquer" Quota 164.

The route along easy dirt roads will pass through Doberdò and then we will aim toward Selz, where we will begin a series of paths rich in World War I history. The ups and downs will continue even after leaving Monfalcone, touching on various bitterly fought locations. From the Fisherman's Village the ups and downs will be less rugged and we will arrive in no time at the Bay of Sistiana and from there at the highly refined Portopiccolo where we can have a coffee while admiring a few yachts at anchor.

The return, except for a few digressions, will be on the same route as the outward: plus we will skirt Lake Doberdò, a true naturalistic treasure.
