In val Fegana dal Casentini al Monte Coronato
Having parked the car near the trout nursery on Via Fegana we begin the long ascent that will take us to Ospedaletto, the highest elevation of the itinerary. To get there we travel along the Ducal road in the direction of Foce a Giovo, abandoning it in favor of the forest road to Foce a Fobi.
Arriving in Pretina we take Cai 38, a very nice path all rideable except for two landslide sections where due care must be taken. From Ospedaletto we descend to Rifugio Casentini where we cross the recently resurfaced Cai 16 to Ponte a Gaio. We resume the ascent in the direction of Montefegatesi and then continue toward Foce a Lago and then the Trebbio Mouth. With the last of our energy we push on to the summit of Mount Coronato.
The descent, via the Via degli Avi, is not difficult except for a short steep section that can be avoided if desired with a variant on the right. We finish the tour with the Trotina descent, a very long flow with a final steep section that cracks just above the nursery where we parked the car.
