Laghetto di Tolmun e verso Sveta Gora
Departure from a parking lot located in Italy, but route entirely Slovenian.
After riding along some Slovenian bike paths, including the tunnel of the old railroad network, we will face the first climbs of the day arriving on the Krasce through very suggestive paths: the last stretch is really tough and difficult to face always in the saddle. The descent, always in the middle of the woods, will take us to Kramarca, a plateau from which we will be able to admire the Isonzo River squeezed into the valley between Sabotino and Sveta Gora: once the next climb is over, we will be able to enjoy the same river that faces the Isonzo plain and laps Gorizia.
A short stretch on asphalt and we will face a steeply descending path that will take us to Dol and then resume climbing toward the Tolmun pond, located at the end of a small road that we will retrace to return to the path that will take us up almost to the Marian monastery of Montesanto (Sveta Gora), easily reached at the crossroads of km.16.7 by lengthening the route by a few kilometers.
The road to Vodice will take us to the start of the first downhill, technical, rocky, stepped, sometimes exposed trail that ends on road 608. Shortly before the junction that allows us to access a very fun but difficult MTB pistino, for those who do not feel comfortable there is the possibility to ride a piece of asphalt and then take the next MTB pistino, less problematic. The asphalt road, however, makes it possible to reach the point where these trails end.
After riding a few trails along the Soča River we take a series of bike paths that will first take us past the Slovenian Transalpina train station, where you can enjoy a great beer with a view of trains and tracks, and then our starting point.
