Brestovec, bunker, cima 3, bosco Cappuccio, Boschini, Isonzo
Departure from the parking lot of the supermarket in Savogna d'Isonzo (GO), always open and located near coin-operated car wash where it is possible to wash the MTB at the end of the ride.
The first flat section ends in Gabria where we attack a path that climbs toward Mount San Michele: medium-steep slopes, sometimes compact and sometimes rocky bottom. When we reach the Brestovec tunnel we start a decent descent that near Devetachi will turn north and start climbing again making us cross the village of San Michele.
Here we will attack a nice steep climb that will take us to the top of Skofnik, where there is a Cold War bunker, which can be visited by appointment ([email protected]). With a nice series of ups and downs and very picturesque trails we will arrive at Peak 3 of Mount St. Michael, from where we will be able to admire the view all the way to the coast (Monfalcone and Grado).
After the path of the cippi we will face a very enjoyable descent, with various types of bottom, until we arrive at Bosco Cappuccio behind Poggio Terza Armata/Sdraussina: on the way up we will find two electrified gates and a sign will remind us to close them again once we have passed. Other suggestive paths will bring us back to Cima 3 and from here we can decide whether to repeat the downhill ride or to continue right toward Rubbia, facing a couple of fast and fairly easy descents. Coming out on the asphalt if we want we can take advantage of the trattoria immediately on the right, really characteristic and excellent!
The last stretch consists of a small dirt road that runs along the Isonzo River, so we will easily reach the starting point.
