Lunga discesa sterrata dal Belvedere del Pastello al Vajo di Fumane
The path can be considered an extension of the previously published path, which you can find here.
I therefore limit myself to describing the new part. It is a little loop that starts and closes at Molane, leading, at the highest elevation, to the magnificent Pastel Belvedere. The loop, while having a modest elevation gain (250 m or so) is very physically demanding. In fact, one has to walk almost all the way up the very hard dirt road that leads to the top of Pastello. If you do not have the "dynamite" in your legs some pushing sections become unavoidable. When you reach the last left-hand hairpin bend, you leave the dirt road to continue on rocky little path that leads to the Belvedere. Unfortunately, the little path is not cyclable except for small sections due to repeated rocky steps. However, in 10 to 15 minutes of pushing, you arrive on the grassy plateau of the belvedere. I assure you that the beauty of the view amply repays the effort made to get there. We were lucky enough to find a beautiful, clear, sunny day and the view was truly superlative. If the ascent was painful, the descent is done leisurely on a comfortable mule track that leads back down to Molane.
Starting from the Belvedere del Pastello we thus make a very long descent (about 800 m of elevation gain) all dirt road that leads down to the bottom of the Vajo di Fumane. This was precisely the objective of the route.
Nota Bene - Unfortunately due to the soggy ground from the frequent thunderstorms of the past few days we had to give up the last part of the descent "Sengia Rossa". Knowing the characteristics of this downhill section we avoided going for trouble. Keep in mind that, even the first two sections of the "Sengia Rossa" descent, with water-soaked terrain, become definitely more challenging. Therefore, for those who want to try the very long descent, I recommend choosing a period with dry ground to fully enjoy the descent all the way down to the bottom of the Vajo.
