Corno della Paura e monte Altissimo

Long, hard and beautiful ride of great satisfaction, incredible views that repay the great effort.

Start from Torbole, bike path to Loppio where you follow a short trail and start climbing with asphalt roads to Brentonico, very nice and with many ramps. Now big road uphill to Polsa where the dirt road to Mt. Vignola begins, at the overpass go right following the Sentiero della Pace with steep ups and downs and fantastic views, up to Corno della Paura where there are the remains of a military post and breathtaking views, photos towards Mt. Baldo.

Descend to San Valentino and climb to the Graziani refuge on asphalt. Now tough climb to Altissimo on beautiful dirt road, incredible view of the whole lake.

I followed the trail to Bocca di Poltrane, some walking, then nice zig-zag trail down and short climb to Forcella del monte Varagna. Descent dirt then asphalt to church where you go left on dirt road, short ascent then fantastic endless descent to Navene. First section on dirt road then stony and challenging section that improves after tool shed, final section on dirt road. There is a drinking fountain on the road after Brentonico, one just after San Valentino and one just after the little church, all of which you pass.

Update 2/8/2024: I have redone the descent from the little church at Prati di Nago to Navene, the trail has become a dirt road(see photos of the havoc here), widening and flattening work is being completed, there is no more difficulty on the descent, just watch out for loose gravel, but it has become a narrow road no longer a trail.
