Monte Bastia - Trail Eremita e Casello
Mount Bastia is part of the Mount Fasce group which, thanks to a dense network of both natural and worked trails, offers a multitude of itineraries on different slopes giving the possibility of turning both in winter ( south side dries immediately) and in more summer periods (north side).
Very convenient departure just off the Nervi highway exit in an area with easy parking. You can climb all on asphalt following the described ascent to M. Cordona, or by the direct route following this trail that first climbs for the maximum gradient on Via Costa D'orecchia, then goes along a nice, always clean but very narrow eat-and-drink path (be careful!) and then takes the road back to M. Fasce. On the way up you will see the different trail entrances, we continue to the large esplanade behind M. Fasce. You leave the asphalt and climb along the methane pipeline, in 10-15 min of ups and downs you are at the 'Hermit attack.
The trail at the beginning follows a beautiful open ridge, then enters the woods with a flowing path, then gradually more rocky until a steep slope on broken rocks on which to be careful, then again it flows away very nice but always quite narrow and to be driven with precision with passages always on fixed rock. Arriving almost at the end at a widening with a newsstand, the original exit descends to the right, we instead go straight ahead to tackle two fun hairpin bends. Arrived on asphalt road we climb a short but steep ramp to descend immediately to ford the stream and resume fun trail that runs along it.
Back on the road you climb another short ramp and then follow a small lane to the right (10 mt push) and return to the main road going up to Premanico. At the village you can go straight up to get to the start of the Nino trail, but we go past the church to take an alley and short cemented ramp that is really hard to pedal (the Premanico elevator) that then becomes a paved path. Once at the Nino, we ride it to the right with a fun all-stone track that is always pedalable until we come out on the asphalt, a few meters uphill and we take the uphill path again retracing the narrow path in traverse.
Once again on the asphalt, follow the left to Monte Moro for about 1 km and near some houses take the Casello trail that descends very fun, first in the woods, then in Mediterranean scrub (at times a bit narrow) until you get back into the woods with a very nice eat and drink path until it finally descends with a series of nice curves to get under the highway viaduct and with two hairpin bends get to skirt the buildings and enter on alley that leads near the highway exit.
