Monte San Michele a Sagrado
Karst enduro route in the foothills of Mount St. Michael starting in Sagrado.
Start from the parking lot at the Sagrado station, pass the railroad underpass and proceed along Via Fornace and then turn left uphill onto Via Remigio del Pino. Immediately the bottom of the cart track becomes bumpy to become a path along the Enel trail. Take cartroad 77 that takes us to Cippo Corridoni where we proceed left toward Quota 164. Cross the provincial road and continue straight on to the viewpoint to then take trail 76 and, on asphalt, climb to San Martino del Carso. We cross the village and then take a path to the left that takes us to the Pecina cave (former military shelter from 15/18) and then go up again on a bicycle path to the vicinity of Monte San Michele, climbing up to Peak 1 (m. 265 highest point of the route).
We descend heading to the mouth of the Bomba DH which we ride all in one breath (S2); once we reach the asphalt we climb back up via Peteano to the third hairpin bend where we take the Porcino Trail, a nice 500-meter trail that descends to the asphalt. We climb up to San Michele Peak 3 and, after enjoying the view, to Peak 4 and then descend along the "Isolated Tree" and "Union" trails. Reaching San Martino del Carso we head for the return route passing between several trails including San Bellin's trail that allows us to visit the Sass di San Bellin. Descending to Fogliano we climb Santa Maria in Monte for the final descent to Sagrado.
