La Garfagnana in mountain bike: Filicaia - Poggio - Roccalberti - Casatico - Roggio - Campocatino -

Departure from Filicaia in the direction of Vagli. We pass the Poggio and after about 1.5 kilometers, before the Località Ferriera, we turn onto the dirt road we find on our right that takes us to the bank of the Edron (stream that forms the lake of Vagli).

We cross the tributary of the Serchio, pass the Isola and Le Vigne localities, encounter an ancient majesty where once some Garfagnana parish priests practiced the rogazioni and reach the small medieval village of Roccalberti (m. 514 a.s.l.).

Here we take another path that takes us, after about 1.5 kilometers, first to Colle Aprico and then to the sports field of Vitoio. We now continue to Casatico and follow the signs for the "mushroom trail" (the mushroom trail, conceived and created by the Mountain Community of Garfagnana, in collaboration with the Gruppo Micologico Lucchese ?B. Puccinelli and the municipalities of Camporgiano and Vagli Sotto, was created with the aim of raising awareness of food, health, environmental and tourism aspects. In this regard, panels have been installed where issues concerning the biology, ecology and toxicity of mushrooms are addressed), which takes us, after about 3.5 km and an elevation gain of about 149 meters to the village of Roggio.

At Roggio we take the dirt road to Monte di Roggio (spectacular views of Roccandagia and Pisanino) and arrive, after about 7 kilometers at Campocatino. A short stop at friend Angelo's Refuge and we start again following the GT trail to Vagli di Sopra (1 kilometer) and Vagli di Sotto (1.2 kilometers). So far we have covered about 23 kilometers of which about 19 are on dirt roads and trails.... Awesome!!! From Vagli di Sotto, following SP 50 we return to the Poggio, cross the Villetta railroad bridge plane and once on the other side we continue to Pontecosi passing through small roads, mule tracks and paths. We cross the bridge and return to Filicaia.
