Monte Falco

Beautiful ride in the Casentino forests, done by emtb.

Departure from Colla dei tre Faggi on forest road to Rifugio Fontanelle, then on trail to the top of Monte Falco. Descend via nice trail to the Burraia meadows and from there to the Chalet della Burraia where you can eat and recharge the emtb battery. Start again and do a very short stretch of asphalt and then take trail 251 and then 289 that leads back down a beautiful descent to the Poderone road. Via the dirt road you gradually ascend to two beautiful mountain villages, Pian del Grado and La Fossa in this season uninhabited. You climb up to the ridge and then descend again by forest road to Bivacco Sassello.

From here you ascend once again to the Colla dei Tre Faggi. Keep in mind that even if almost the entire route is on forest dirt roads devoid of technical difficulties and the Km are about 43, the accumulated elevation gain is about 1900 m.

For mtb I recommend it only for trained people. To be done in all seasons (except full winter) but recommended spring and autumn.
