Monte Iacotenente

Tour to the Umbrian forest starting from Vieste.

Start from Mattei waterfront going up the disused road, very nice, paved in places. I made a variation that I do not recommend, continue uphill .

At the junction of the state highway continue up right on the steep cemented landfill road, then steep dirt road. Ll plan to descend briefly on dirt road to the left that becomes less traveled to the dirt road of coppa fusillo .

Continue on and at the mount you begin to descend on trail in the woods, as of this year there are stakes with white-red cai signs and tables of the san michele pilgrim trail.

At the old forest houses there is a very scenic spot, then the dirt road becomes more stony, at the junction with the asphalt road you climb briefly and from the radar you have a nice view of Vieste and the sea .

The trail becomes more difficult and rocky but truly spectacular.

At the pass you turn right and with asphalt you return to the coast.
