SAN NICOLA DA CRISSA - MONGIANA

Route starting in San Nicola da Crissa and continuing with slight inclines toward the towns of Torre di Ruggiero and Cardinale. From here it proceeds in the direction of Simbario and Spadola and then begins a gradual ascent toward Serra San Bruno, skirting the Ancinale River in places. Once past the town, after about 2 km you will encounter the majestic Certosa. Past the Sanctuary of Santa Maria del Bosco, through the dense forest of white firs in which the Sentiero del brigante runs, the road climbs up to an altitude of 1026 m, and then descends toward Mongiana, the town of the arms factory wanted by Ferdinand IV of Bourbon and the Museum of the Royal Bourbon Ironworks. The route is part of the Natural Parks of Calabria Cycle Route.
