CASTROVILLARI - LUNGRO - ACQUAFORMOSA

Route for mtb/gravel or road bike starting from Castrovillari, where the Pollino Service Center is based, which presents the splendid landscape of the Park in immersive settings, in an area, that of Orsomarso, inhabited by Arbëreshe communities since the 15th century; continuing on the SP263, one climbs toward the village of San Basile (540 m) and continues in the direction of Saracena. The route descends rapidly and then, crossing cultivated countryside, reaches Firmo and then ascends again in the direction of Lungro (590 m), the village that still preserves some Byzantine rituals and traditions intact. From here the route climbs again and reaches the village of Acquaformosa with the splendid 16th-century Church of St. John the Baptist. The route is part of the Natural Parks of Calabria cycle route.
