Monte Ballerino
With today's ride we are in Borgo di Terzo, in the province of Bergamo, a few kilometers from Lake Endine, which will accompany us, with its beautiful view, in several parts of the route.
As always, some technical data can't be missed: distance: 23km - time on the move: 2.40 hours - total elevation gain: 1300m - maximum elevation: 1350m - cycleability: 98% - suitable for MTB XC/AM.
Having parked the car in Borgo di Terzo, after crossing the streets of the village, a nice climb on concrete begins, with a constant gradient around 20% that will accompany us up to a path that, remaining at altitude, leads to the side of the San Fermo Hills.
We continue with a stretch of asphalt, with little traffic, until we start climbing again on concrete and then on grassland to reach Mount Gremalto; this is a recommended detour to admire the lake and the surrounding panorama.
From the top of the mountain, descend to the esplanade below to the meadow and then climb via dirt road to the top of Monte Ballerino where a fantastic trail begins.
The first part is an alternation of pieces in the undergrowth and meadows, very fast, dry and dusty, as we lose meters of elevation gain we enter the undergrowth where we find a rocky but completely doable terrain with some technical passages; overall no special technical skills are required.
Once this section is over, unfortunately, we are left with a final effort of 80 meters of elevation gain, on trail, but that will be completely repaid by the beauty of the trail we will find at the end of the climb.
A killer single track! Really like a bike park! A very flowing trail on dirt and roots with spots where, without getting too distracted, you can admire Lake Endine in the background.
At the end of the trail, after a short stretch of asphalt, we take the last little path, very short, that will take us to the bottom of the valley, where through provincial road or bike path we will reach the starting point.
