Cusna e Torricella
Unprecedented descent from Mt. Cusna combining a series of trails for nearly 1600 meters of negative elevation gain.
Never mundane and very wild in the forest part to end with the spectacular Borderline of Mount Torricella a trail not for everyone rediscovered and fixed by the guys of Ride the Giant. Departure from Villa Minozzo just before the Gonfalone falls and where the last descent will end.We follow the provincial road SP9 towards Febbio to abandon it in favor of the road to Case Santini. Past the latter we arrive in Febbio and then continue to the Rescadore facilities.
We finally abandon the asphalt to proceed on a forestry road that breaks away from the Cai 611A trail and then picks it up again further on at about elevation 1375. We follow the path until we meet the forest road coming from Case Cattalini (water point), which, passing under Mount Ravino, leads onto the Forbici road, which we will follow to the Lama Lite pass.
Before continuing, it is worth a ride from the Battisti refuge to rest before tackling the most strenuous part of the tour done by backpacking or pushing bikes across the long ridge of Mount Cusna.
In about 50 minutes we arrive all the way below the summit, which we will not reach today but we immediately throw ourselves downhill by combining CAI trails 619 and 609 to the Monteorsaro Refuge. From the latter we walk a few hundred meters of asphalt until we meet an obvious marked trail on the right that leads to Mount Torricella where we face the final descent called BORDERLINE. As you walk down the trail you will realize that the name was never so appropriate. Very steep and in places exposed I do not recommend tackling it unless you have good riding skills on the steep boulder and to those who mind the strong exposure
