Enduro Scholder Tour
This year we decided to spend a mini vacation in Solden; in Austria, on the border with Italy just after the beautiful Rombo Pass.
But why Solden of all places?
Others simply build bike parks, but they build BIKE REPUBLIC SÖLDEN.
Founded in 2015, they started one of the most ambitious and individual mountain bike projects in the Alpine region, in terms of variety, welcoming culture, and environmental sustainability.
An entire nation for cyclists, but why? They wanted not only to create a sensational cycling area, but also a complete cycling culture from the valley floor to the mountains, where everyone felt at home.
It doesn't matter where you come from, how you look, or how you sit on your bike; BIKE REPUBLIC is governed by fairness, fun, but most of all by citizens.
Here you get a passport and you also have a voice; RIDERS GOVERN!
We have created three itineraries with the best that Solden could offer us, without missing a thing.
Day 3: ENDURO SCHOELDER TOUR.
Distance: 33.5km - time on the move: 3.20 hours - total elevation gain: 1480m - maximum elevation: 2160m - bikeability: 100% - suitable for MTB AM/ENDURO.
The best route of the three days; we tried to combine the most fun single tracks that we were missing and the result is a truly spectacular tour!
Starting from our Hotel we go up the usual road to get to the upper part of Solden, but instead of taking the road to the glacier, at a certain point, we take a road that is paved for the most part and then gravel on the finish.
This is just the warm-up; we take a beautiful trail, 6007 nicknamed OHN LINE.
The trail playfully winds for over 3.6km with an average gradient of 10%; it is fantastic, fun and extremely versatile.
When you reach the end of the trail, at the intersection of roads, take a forest road in the direction of Gaislach/Silbertal. It's a nice, leisurely climb until you reach three huts: Sonneck, Silbertal and Gaislachlam. The final climb is short, but very steep and will eventually take you to the Gaislachkogl mid-station.
It is now time to get ready for the second trail of the day: the 6005 nicknamed EEBME LINE.
A beautiful bike park trail that skirts the dirt road until it takes us on the last climb; the glacier road.
Instead of continuing to the glacier, at the first hut we turn onto a road/trail, all at altitude that will take us to the other side of the mountain.
The climbs are over, now breathtaking descents await us!
The two main trails: the 672, LEITERBERG TRAIL and the 6009 nicknamed LETTN LINE.
The first, the Leiterberg Trail, is a technically challenging trail through the woods on the outskirts of BIKE REPUBLIC SÖLDEN. For experienced cyclists it is super fun, for those who are eager to learn the training terrain is perfect. There are steep sections, rocky and rooted parts and slippery parts; it is quite a challenge, especially the second part.
We end the day and the vacation on a high note with the TUNAP LINE, a short but super super fun trail; drop the brakes and have fun like there's no tomorrow; it's the ideal trail!
With already the nostalgia of the beautiful vacation almost over, we give the last strokes to the pedals to get to the Hotel, already ready to think of a next destination!
