Description

E-MTB Ride Between the Dams of Cancano, Pedenolo, Lake Rims, and Val Mora A great e-MTB loop in the heart of the Upper Valtellina, through military roads, wild valleys, alpine lakes, and spectacular views.

We start at the Cancano dam and begin climbing toward Pedenolo, tackling one of the route’s first major climbs. As we gain elevation, the landscape opens up and the view of the mountains of Alta Valtellina becomes increasingly expansive. Once past Pedenolo, we reach Bocchetta della Forcola, where the view opens up toward the Stelvio Pass and its imposing mountains. From here, we continue uphill toward Punta di Rims, a fairly challenging climb where we sometimes have to push our bikes, then ride along a section of the ridge to a pass and begin the descent toward Lake Rims along a rocky trail. It is here that the route offers one of its most breathtaking views: the lake suddenly appears before us, small and perfect, like a diamond set among the rocks and mountains.

Leaving the lake behind, we continue our route toward Val Mora, one of the most fascinating valleys in this part of the Alps. The first section of the descent is very challenging (S2 with S3 sections), then it becomes more scenic until we reach the entrance to Val Mora. A succession of magnificent landscapes—meadows, water, and mountains—where it’s impossible not to keep looking around. We then continue toward Alpe del Gallo, tackling the final challenging climb to reach a vast plateau, and then descend the other side of the mountain to complete the route and return to the Cancano dams.

A challenging and highly varied ride, covering about 56 km with over 2,100 meters of elevation gain, which—on an e-MTB—allows you to tackle the long climbs and fully enjoy a route rich in panoramic views and completely diverse landscapes. There are no charging stations along the route, so you’ll need to conserve battery power.
