Svizzera Pesciatina
A beautiful loop hike in the heart of the Pescia region of Switzerland, perfect for those who love combining the charm of stone villages with trails nestled in the woods. The route starts at the Pescia train station (ideal for those traveling by train) and heads to Castelvecchio, the actual starting point of the loop. From here, the trail climbs toward San Quirico, alternating between paved roads and unpaved country lanes. The climb continues—never too steep—along a pleasant forest trail, passing by the Madonna del Tamburino and the Uso di Sotto mountain hut, until you reach Croce a Veglia, where the sharp silhouette of the Penna di Lucchio offers a spectacular panoramic view.
From Croce a Veglia, put on your protective gear: a guided and fun descent begins on a trail that requires good technical skills to navigate at its best, until you emerge at Pontino. A short ride on paved road leads to Lanciole, the starting point of the day’s final singletrack: a technical flow ride that ends right in the beautiful village of Sorana. After winding through its narrow streets, the loop closes as you return to Castelvecchio and finally head down to the Pescia train station.
